COME and BE BLESSED
Featured Speaker
Rev. Yolande Yaeger
was born and raised in New Orleans , La. , having been adopted at birth,
and raised with the blessing of a sister and four brothers. Growing up
in the Crescent City , Yolande was later "born again" at age 19 and
adopted a second time - this time into the family
Her young journey to know Christ and His healing was not without the deepest and darkest of challenges along with the greatest of miracles. Yet, it was on such a journey that Yolande came to know and understand first-hand, the meaning and the working of restoration in a life given to Christ. After an amazing transformation, Yolande was led by God into a depth of worship that could only emerge from genuine relationship and lasting grace. She was compelled by her own experience to take this grace from the church building to those held captive by drugs, alcohol and darkness on the streets of New Orleans and inside prisons, hospitals and rehab centers.
In 1994, after more than 15 years of ministry to the people and the city of New Orleans , Yolande answered the call to plant and co-pastor a church in Covington , La called Abundant Grace Christian Fellowship. Her call for worship and prophetic teaching would help lay the foundations. In 1998, she and her partner Rev. Lee Thompson moved to Long Beach , California , where Yolande accepted a position as Director of Worship at MCC L ong Beach . There she taught regularly, led worship, worked with and trained worship leaders, teams and band members. During this time her vision for Worship and the Arts began to take form, and she founded the Ascending in Worship Conference. Preparing the way through prayer, worship and evangelism, Yolande diligently sought God, studied His heart for worship, and created the format and the teachings to bring to the churched and the unchurched alike. During this time, an amazing hunger for a new sound and an authentic experience with Christ among the body became evident to Yolande and to those who shared her vision.
So in 2004, Eagle's
Nest Ministries was founded, and the annual School of Worship and
the Arts was established. Along with being the founder of the
Ascending in Worship Conference in Long Beach, CA and
Eagle’s Nest Ministries, Yolande co-
In 2004, after 5 years on staff at MCC in Long Beach , Yolande and Lee moved to Austin , Texas and planted a church called The Gathering Place Worship Center. They established the church and mentored a young man named Eric Hull to be the pastor and have since ordained him. 2007 was a tough year as Yolande also went through one year of treatment for Hepatitis C. It was an extremely hard year for both she and Lee, but God’s love and grace was faithful to carry them through.
When their time in Austin was completed in 2008, they moved home to New Orleans , LA for a time of rest and now reside there with their beautiful Border collie, Dixie and playful cat, Jazz. Yolande and Lee celebrate 16 wonderful, fulfilling years together this October. |
